Kathi Meyer was born and raised in the Chicago area which explains why she’s an avid Bears and Cubs fan. A 1973 graduate of Bradley University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Kathi moved to Denver, Colorado to start her professional career.

She spent 25 years in the banking and financial management field working for Colorado National Bank (US Bank), GE Capital, and lastly, Southern California Savings and Loan. It was there as Senior Vice President, she handled billions of dollars of transactions per year, managed a two billion dollar portfolio and oversaw more than 125 employees.

In 1996, Kathi and her husband, Jim Peterson moved to Steamboat Springs. She quickly became involved in the community. Kathi was elected twice to a total of six years on the Steamboat Springs City Council where her peers elected her to serve as President Pro-tem. She has served two terms, totaling 15 years, on the Steamboat Springs Planning Commission including serving as its Chairperson. She is also the former Board President and current member of the Yampa Valley Housing Authority, on which she has served since its inception in 2004. In 2017, Kathi was elected to the Colorado Municipal League Executive Board and over the next four years served as its Treasurer, Vice President and President.
